Raymond man convicted of historic sex crimes to be sentenced in June
LETHBRIDGE, AB – A 50-year-old man from Raymond, found guilty of three counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault, in relation to crimes that occurred in the early to mid-1980s, will be sentenced June 5, 2019.
The man’s name will not be released because of a publication ban, and because he was under the age of 18 at the time of the incidents. He was convicted in early March.
A judge found that two of the convictions fell under the old Juvenile Delinquents Act, which would not result in any jail time. Under that act, the man can be sentenced to a small fine, a stern reprimand, or time in an industrial school- which Alberta did not or does not have.
