629 new COVID cases in Alberta Tuesday, 83 for South Zone

LETHBRIDGE, AB. — Alberta Health Services has released its report on COVID-19 for Tuesday, covering statistics compiled over the past 24 hours.

629 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to date to 245,598. Of those, 7,931 cases are active while 235,312 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, 83 people tested positive with 31 in Medicine Hat and 17 in Lethbridge.

Active infections across the region and in Lethbridge stayed relatively flat but went down by 24 in Medicine Hat.

Since yesterday’s update, seven Albertans died from COVID including three in the South Zone, two in the Edmonton Zone, and one each in the Central and North Zones. To date, 2,355 Albertans have lost their lives as a result of the virus.

For the deaths in the South Zone, two people were from Medicine Hat and one from Cardston County.

Provincially, 258 patients are currently hospitalized including 57 who have been admitted to intensive care.

• Calgary Zone – 99,648 cases, 2,422 active
  • 83 in hospital, 17 in ICU
  • 714 deaths
• Edmonton Zone – 81,342 cases, 2,468 active
  • 94 in hospital, 21 in ICU
  • 1,114 deaths (two new)
• North Zone – 28,430 cases, 1,241 active
  • 20 in hospital, three in ICU
  • 207 deaths (one new)
• Cental Zone – 22,019 cases, 794 active
  • 26 in hospital, five in ICU
  • 176 deaths (one new)
• South Zone – 14,133 cases, 989 active
  • 35 in hospital, 11 in ICU
  • 144 deaths (three new)

Below is a breakdown of new cases over the past three days in the South Health Zone:

• Lethbridge – 5,087 cases (17 new), 143 active, 40 deaths
  • West Lethbridge – 1,893 cases (five new), 75 active, four deaths
  • North Lethbridge – 1,672 cases (five new), 31 active, 11 deaths
  • South Lethbridge – 1,521 cases (seven new), 37 active, 25 deaths
• Medicine Hat – 2,138 cases (31 new), 527 active, 27 deaths (two new)
• Brooks – 1,583 cases (five new), 42 active, 15 deaths
• Lethbridge County – 1,312 cases (four new), 36 active, 14 deaths
• Cardston County – 1,095 cases (12 new), 54 active, 20 deaths (one new)
• M.D. of Taber – 607 cases (six new), 29 active, six deaths
• County of Warner – 480 cases (one new), eight active, three deaths
• Cypress County – 439 cases (four new), 77 active, one death
• M.D. of Pincher Creek – 375 cases (one new), 27 active, five deaths
