LETHBRIDGE, AB – Ryan Lepko is running for Lethbridge City Council in this fall’s municipal election.

Being a resident of Lethbridge for many years now, Lepko says this will help him in finding out what the city needs to focus on.

Lepko says his top priorities are as follows:

Crime and Safety: “Being a probation officer, I work directly with many of the people who contribute to the Crime Index being the highest in Canada. Some have successfully rehabilitated growing and maturing into becoming productive members of society. Many, however, do not. So how can we begin addressing this area?”

Community Concerns: “I have called Lethbridge home for nearly five decades. I have seen a gradual increase in homelessness, poverty, and decrease in safety over the years from when I was a kid. It appears to be the more government granted out money and resources to address homelessness, the number of homeless increased, not decreased. Why is that? Is there a correlation?”

Economic Development: “I believe in the free-market philosophy. Let businesses do what businesses do, employ people, and pay taxes that contribute to the community’s infrastructure while rewarding those who put up their capital to make a profit. Working for the government, I know the red tape and bureaucracy that leads to delays and inefficiencies. I commit to working with industry and City Officials in reducing the red tape causing unnecessary delays or unneeded costs to business.”

He also says he will focus on:

  • Garbage/Collection/Compost
  • Third Bridge
  • Bike Lanes
  • Cryptocurrency
  • Supervised Consumption Site

Lepko says he wants to be honest and transparent with his campaign priorities to give people in Lethbridge an opportunity to see he is “community-driven.”
