Patricia Chizek: Liberal candidate for Lethbridge-West

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Patricia Chizek is looking to become the MLA for Lethbridge-West.

She is running for the Alberta Liberal Party in the 2023 Alberta provincial election.

Chizek provided the following answers to LNN’s Meet the Candidates questionnaire:

Why did you decide to run in this election and why for your party?

I decided to run because of the far-right UCP and the far-left NDP who are dividing and polarizing this province. I want to be part of the unifying voice. I want to be part of those who can bring common sense back to the legislature. I want to be part of those who will put people before party.

I chose the Alberta Liberal Party for its values of freedom, equality, limited government, capitalism, and responsibility.

Why do you feel that you are the best choice to represent your riding as MLA?

There are elected officials whose actions speak of ‘entitlement’ rather than as a temporary EMPLOYEE. I will listen to all sides in Lethbridge West – not just my party. There are elected officials who will not vote or speak against their party’s position. I will listen to the residents and speak for them – not just my party.

What types of personal or professional experience do you have that would make you a good MLA?

In my professional background, I was a teacher and school administrator. This has given me experience as a listener, leader, collaborator, decision-maker, and someone who can get things done. I have worked on curriculum and program development to get policy developed. These experiences have given me the ability and patience to work with many people whose views may differ from mine and the legislature needs more cooperation and collaboration.

What would be your top three priorities if elected?

My own top priorities are better health care, better public schools, and economic diversity.

What should voters know about your campaign?

Get to know the candidates first and the party second. Don’t vote against a party, vote for a person. These [two] sentences are what I am about. I will not bother you with a door knock or a phone call during your supper hour for that is your family time. I will try to listen to your concerns and answer any questions. I will not ignore you. Let’s get a legislature that has more than [two parties] represented.
