Fourth suspect charged in Coleman home invasion

COLEMAN, AB – The RCMP in the Crowsnest Pass has laid charges against a fourth person in connection to a violent break and enter.

On September 16, 2023, officers were called to a home in Coleman on reports that five men armed with weapons allegedly assaulted three residents.

Charges were first laid against two suspects on September 21 and a third suspect was charged the following day.

The latest round of charges came on Thursday, September 28, after members searched a home in Lethbridge and claim to have confiscated a bat, a hatchet, a knife, ammunition, an air pistol, two air rifles, and three cell phones.

Nearly two weeks later, the RCMP said it had tracked down a fourth suspect and laid charges on Thursday, September 28, 2023.

Robert Dwyer, 37, of Lethbridge faces 11 charges in total including two counts each of aggravated assault and pointing a firearm, as well as one count each of robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, uttering threats, assault with a weapon, and break and enter.

Dwyer remains in custody following a bail hearing and is next scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Lethbridge on October 4, 2023.

The RCMP did not provide any updates on their efforts to search for a fifth, unidentified suspect.
