LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) says it was a busy night for traffic enforcement.

The LPS, with assistance from the Alberta Sheriffs, conducted targeted traffic enforcement between 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27 and 2:00 a.m. the following morning.

During that six hour stretch, police say they issued 69 tickets, most of which were for equipment violations. However, four drivers were apprehended for allegedly driving impaired.

Officers will continue with similar traffic enforcement operations throughout this summer.

The police service says they say their goal is to provide safer roads for everyone by targeting speeding, excessive vehicle noise, racing, stunting, and other illegal behaviours in areas where residents have reported concerns.

Since 2021, the LPS says it has received hundreds of complaints about loud vehicles and high-risk driving behaviours on and around Mayor Magrath Drive and Sherring Industrial Park.

The public can report illegal or otherwise dangerous driving behaviours by calling 403-328-4444.
