
Rob Miyashiro secures NDP Nomination for Lethbridge-West
LETHBRIDGE, AB – Rob Miyashiro has officially earned the New Democratic Party (NDP) nomination for the upcoming by-election in Lethbridge-West. The party says Miyashiro’s nomination marks a significant step in its strategy to strengthen its regional presence.
In a well-attended nomination meeting held on September 7, 2024, Miyashiro secured the NDP’s nomination with support from party members and local supporters. He earned 1,110 votes cast with 1,516 eligible voters, winning by a wide margin.
Miyashiro expresses, “The message our party members sent today is one of hope for a better future,” said Miyashiro. “The Alberta NDP is stronger in Lethbridge-West than we have ever been. We are energized by our new leader, Naheed Nenshi, and we are ready to stand up for the issues that matter to Lethbridge in this by-election. We are for a better, more prosperous future, a healthier Alberta that values fairness, public services, and strong communities.”
Bridget Mearns, one of the other candidates who ran, released a statement on X commending Miyashiro. She states, “Congratulations to [Rob Miyashiro] for winning the NDP nomination for Lethbridge West in the by-election. It was a close one with fantastic engagement from the membership. Thank you to all Lethbridge West supporters and my volunteers. We unite for the Alberta we believe in.”
