Bail hearing set for accused in alleged armed standoff
LETHBRIDGE – A 46-year-old Lethbridge man will remain in custody by his own consent, as his lawyer had the bail hearing adjourned until later this month.
Jaysun George Sinclair appeared briefly in Lethbridge Provincial Court via CCTV Friday morning, Dec. 1, with an agent standing in for defence lawyer, Bill Wister, asking that the matter be adjourned until Dec. 19. They noted that Wister was not available until then, and that he has only been retained for the purposes of a bail hearing at this point.
The Crown stated that they were prepared to proceed with the hearing sooner, but consented to the adjournment.
Sinclair faces a long list of charges – including use of a firearm while committing an offence, assault with a weapon, assaulting a peace officer with a weapon and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm – in connection with an incident on Nov. 26.
