LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Police have charged a 32-year-old woman in connection with an assault on a senior citizen.

LPS reported that on July 3, at around 4:50 p.m., a 64-year-old man was in the front yard of his Dieppe Boulevard South home moving his sprinkler when a woman allegedly began yelling and approached him.

Police stated that the woman continued to yell, and the older man informed her he was going to call 911. When he had his phone up to his ear, it’s alleged that the woman hit him in the face with an object, before leaving the scene and entering a home down the block.

Officers and EMS responded and found the man bleeding “profusely” with “significant injuries” to his face. He was taken to hospital with a broken nose and cheekbone.

As of Thursday morning, July 4, the man remains in hospital in critical but stable condition.

Police arrested the female at the home the male saw her walk into. The two parties involved were not known to each other, according to LPS.

Now, Ashlee Brooke Pederson is charged with assault causing bodily harm. She’s currently in custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
