Ammonite theft suspect released from custody

LETHBRIDGE, AB – One of two men charged in connection with the theft of a valuable ammonite fossil – July 16, has been released from custody.

26-year old Logan Heavy Shields was released into the custody of his father, who lives on the Blood Reserve.

He must not have any contact with his co-accused, abide by a curfew, and stay away from the Enchanted Design Mine site.

Police say in mid-July, two men made off with an ammonite fossil worth anywhere from $40,000 to $100,000.
