Craig Dalton resigning as Lethbridge’s City Manager

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge City Council has announced the resignation of City Manager Craig Dalton.

The city says Dalton is resigning “to pursue another opportunity”. He began working in Lethbridge on May 19, 2020, with one of his first assignments being to lead the city through the COVID-19 pandemic while ensuring the continuity of services.

Lethbridge Mayor Blaine Hyggen said, “Mr. Dalton has worked hard and served Lethbridge well for almost two years.”

“While we continue to navigate COVID-19, Craig has put the building blocks and systems in place for us to continue to forge ahead with a bright future. We thank Craig for his time in Lethbridge and I wish him all the best.”

Dalton, meanwhile, said, “I was thankful for the opportunity to be a part of a strong leadership team at the City of Lethbridge, and to contribute to the community in a meaningful way.”

In the coming days, Lethbridge City Council will be discussing a way forward in hiring a new City Manager.

Before Dalton, Jody Meli served as Lethbridge’s Interim City Manager, replacing Bramwell Strain, who announced his resignation in December 2019.

Dalton’s last day at the City of Lethbridge has not been determined, but is anticipated to be in March, allowing time for a transition in leadership.
