Man injured in motorcycle crash near bridge construction zone

LETHBRIDGE – A crash involving a motorcycle sent one person to the hospital Tuesday, May 15.

Lethbridge Police say it happened around 5:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Highway 3 at Bridge Drive, entering the construction zone. It appears the man riding the motorcycle swerved to avoid the slowing traffic.

The victim’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. The highway remained open, but due to congestion, police asked drivers to use Whoop-Up Drive as an alternate route until the scene was cleared.

Police are reminding drivers to be cautious in construction zones, pointing out there are double fines for speeding. They also noted the increase in motorcycles on the road due to warmer weather. Motorcycle safety is the LPS traffic safety focus this month.
