PRINCE ALBERT, SASK. –  The Raiders needed a full period to get back in the saddle on Friday, and they paid for it.

The Lethbridge Hurricanes scored three goals in the opening frame and held on to a 5-4 win despite a furious Raiders’ push back in the final 40 minutes.

The defeat snaps a three-game winning streak the Raiders had on the road last week, beating the Red Deer Rebels 3-2, the Edmonton Oil Kings 5-2, and the Calgary Hitmen 3-2 in overtime. The Raiders are 11-35-3-2 now on the year. The Hurricanes are 7-1-1 in their last nine games, increasing their record to 27-15-4-3.

Raiders’ goaltender Nicholas Sanders was pulled after surrendering three goals on 11 shots in the first period. Sanders had won all three of the Raiders’ games last weekend, with a .943 save percentage in those contests.

Ian Scott came in to relieve Sanders, making 17 saves on 19 shots.

The Raiders got back into the game, outscoring the Hurricanes 3-1 in the second period to face a 4-3 deficit heading into the third period.

Cavin Leth and Nick Heid scored 14 seconds apart to give the Raiders a lift and back in the game.

Leth scored his second of the game, stripping Hurricanes goaltender Stuart Skinner and making it a 5-4 game.

Brennan Menell had two goals and an assist for the Hurricanes. Tyler Wong had a goal and two assist
