Local road work about to begin for another summer

LETHBRIDGE – Road milling and paving projects are about to get underway around Lethbridge.
 
The annual maintenance program is scheduled to begin this week (June 12-16), weather permitting, to ensure safe streets for all motorists. Paving will occur shortly after milling has been complete, starting in the following areas:
 
Mayor Magrath Drive – 3 Avenue North to 3 Avenue South;
Scenic Drive South – 26 Street South to Mayor Magrath Drive South;
6 Avenue South – 5 Street South to Scenic Drive South;
13 Street South – 5A Avenue South to 6A Avenue South; and
28 Street North – 5 Avenue North to 6 Avenue North.
 
Drivers, especially motorcyclists, are urged to drive with caution as some road surfaces will be uneven following milling.
 
The City says that lane reductions and closures have been timed out to limit the impact on traffic, but there may still be some minor delays in work areas. Motorists are also asked to to obey posted speed limits and detours for the safety of all construction workers.
 
Other road work scheduled for this summer includes:
 
Arterial roads
13 Street South – 5A Avenue South to 6A Avenue South;
Mayor Magrath Drive North – South of 2 Ave N to 3 Ave N; and
Whoop Up Drive – Eastbound off-ramp to northbound Scenic Drive South.

Collector roads
2A Avenue North – 12B Street North to 13 Street North;
9 Avenue North – 39 Street North to 43 Street North;
36 Street North – 12 Avenue North to 16 Avenue North;
Grand River Boulevard West – University Drive West to Riverbrook Close West;
Henderson Lake Boulevard South – Mayor Magrath Drive South to 14 Avenue South;
McMaster Boulevard West – Cambridge Road West to Temple Boulevard West;
Red Crow Boulevard West – Lakhota Crescent West to Jerry Potts Boulevard West; and
Uplands Boulevard North – 13 Street North to Cougar Road North.

Local roads
12A Street North – 5 Avenue North to 6 Avenue North;
12C Street North – 7 Avenue North to 9 Avenue North;
14 Avenue North – 24 Street North to 28 Street North;
17 Street North – 1 Avenue North to 2 Avenue North;
18 Street North – 5 Avenue North to 7 Avenue North;
22 Street North – 2 Avenue North to end; and
Sylvan Road South – Lakemount Boulevard South to Glacier Drive South.
