Lethbridge to Coaldale pathway, temporary street renaming among items on Council agenda

LETHBRIDGE – The Link Regional Trail Society will be asking for support from Lethbridge City Council at it’s meeting Monday afternoon, as it plans and looks for more funding to construct a $4.4 million  paved, pedestrian and cycling pathway from Lethbridge to Coaldale.
 
Council will also be asked to formalize an operating agreement with the YMCA for space in the ATB Centre Phase 2. If approved, the agreement will be in effect for 40 years and 9 months. It would take effect April 1, 2019 and run until Dec.31, 2059.
 
And the Royal Canadian Legion will make a submission, asking City Council for permission to temporarily re-name a portion of 4 Avenue South between 9 Street and 11 Street South as “Veterans Avenue” between Oct. 30, and Nov. 11.
 
There will also be request for a decision from the Lethbridge Sports Council, asking that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to sign an amended lease agreement for a one-year extension of space leased at the Nicholas Sheran Leisure Centre.
 
The public meeting takes place in Council Chambers at City Hall at 1:30 p.m.
