LETHBRIDGE -The first event of the growing season hosted by Farming Smarter is a Plot Hop on June 7 at the Lethbridge site.

The field day will take place from 8:00-am to 3:30-pm at the Lethbridge site, where participants will look at some Canada Research plots, including a pea disease nursery and wheat disease nursery that’s studying stripe rust.

There will also be discussion about different winter wheat agronomics and attendees will take a jaunt over to the college to see some sub-surface drip irrigation systems that are set up in containers.

In the afternoon, discussions will include ‘D-I-Y’ soil sensors, de-banding of mobile nutrients, which is a new project that has been approved for Farming Smarter and a preview of what to expect from the project in the coming years.

The field day will also include information on bio-stimulant break-down, which looks at plant response to different types of bio-stimulants
