What’s happening around Lethbridge this weekend, July 1, 2022
LETHBRIDGE, AB – Bucking bronco’s, live performances, cool cars, and finding your zen, there’s lots to do around Southern Alberta this weekend.
The Raymond Stampede is the celebrating 120 years of rodeo this weekend. Happening from July 1, until July 2, 2022, you can catch all the rodeo action including steer wrestling, team roping, bull riding, bareback, ladies breakaway roping, saddle bronc, and more. The Raymond Rodeo first occurred all the way back in 1902 when Ray Knight, brought together local ranch hands to test their skills and see who were the best working cowboys. This year the stampede will also include pro-rodeo events after the Chinook Rodeo Association managed to get approval from the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association and the U.S Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. The rodeo kicks off at 1:30 p.m. starting off with a performance by the Blood Tribe Dance Group and Moccasin Flat Singers.
If the rodeo isn’t for you, but you’re still a fan of horsepower. The Town of Vauxhall is hosting a Show and Shine on July 2, 2022, as part of its Post Centennial Celebration. The show starts at 11:00 a.m. and runs for five hours. For those interested in entering their sweet ride, registration for the event is free.
If you’d rather stick around Lethbridge, you can check out Hootenanny! happening at Galt Gardens on Saturday, July 2, 2022. The show starts at 10:30 a.m. and is meant for all ages. Put on by the New West Theatre the show features puppets, music, goofy characters and a afterwards there is a short interactive drama workshop. In the event of rain, extreme heat or smoke, the performance will held inside CASA.
