Local media personality signals intent to seek City Council position

LETHBRIDGE –  A well known local media personality has filed Application for Intent to seek a seat on Lethbridge City Council.

Mark Campbell was born and raised in the city and attended Lethbridge College. He has spent more than four decades working for local media outlets, including the newspaper and Global TV, as well as four different radio stations, including Country-95 and going back to the old CHEC radio days.

Campbell wants to give back to the city and wants to be part of the decision-making process.  He says his background in media will offer a solid grounding in dealing with the public and has helped develop his ability to listen to concerns, absorb facts and act on that information.  He has also shown his ability and comfort level in handling different situations and dealing with people from all walks of life.

As a potential candidate for city council, Campbell sees himself as a ‘team player’, who is anxious to delve into the issues facing the city, in a time of what he considers, “an era of incredible growth and opportunity”.  He is not afraid of contentious issues and wants to see a discussion on “needs versus wants, as to what we can afford in this city.”

Along with the Mayors chair there are eight Councillors’ positions on the ballot for the October Civic election. The deadline for filing nomination papers is Sept. 18.

The initial list of candidates vying for a spot on Council  can be found on the City website.
