LETHBRIDGE, AB. — One student at the Lethbridge College has been extremely studious for their last two years. With the pandemic impacting the second half of their first semester they still managed to receive exceptional grades while navigating an on-line environment.

This massive achievement of Valedictorian will be awarded to Business Administration student Ashley Pierson. Pierson currently hold’s a 4.0 GPA and will be graduating with Honours with Great Distinction.

College leaders said they had been looking to incorporate this distinction into the convocation ceremony for many years, but this is the first time a student has ever received the honour of being valedictorian.

Ashley Pierson accredits her success to her mentor and instructor Dr. Cheryl Meheden, and says her teacher embodies the bold and courageous businesswoman that she aspires to become.

Pierson is very honoured and proud to represent the 2021 graduating class. “My fellow students greatly deserve recognition, as well, for persevering and graduating while facing a pandemic. The class of 2021 should be very proud of our resilience.”

The Lethbridge College will be holding a drive-thru convocation May 27 and 28 to celebrate the students who graduated this year and the year prior, as they did not receive a celebration due to the pandemic. The event will be live-streamed for family and friends unable to attend the event.
