Preliminary hearing begins for Lethbridge man accused of killing baby
LETHBRIDGE – The preliminary hearing is now underway for a 41-year old Lethbridge man, accused in the death of a nine month old baby boy.
Tyler Brian Hogan – who is currently out on release conditions – faces a charge of second degree murder, in connection with the death of Austin Wright.
At the outset of the prelim – which will determine if there’s enough evidence to proceed to trial – Crown Prosecutor, Emanuel Vomberg, stated that the proceedings are schedule for five days. He noted however, that because they are still waiting for some forensic medical evidence, the prelim will have to be broken into two parts, the second of which will be scheduled on Monday (Apr. 24).
Judge William Cummings, who is based out of Calgary, will be overseeing the prelim, noting that all southern Alberta judges have been disqualified from the case.
