TOKYO — A powerful earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.6 shakes western Japan, but there is no danger of a tsunami being caused.
The Meteorological Agency said the earthquake occurred Friday at 2:10 p.m. local time in Japan’s western prefecture of Tottori, about 700 kilometres west of Tokyo, at a depth of 10 kilometres underground.
