City lays out protocol for Hurricanes playoff games at Nicholas Sheran Arena

Mar 29, 2019 | 8:17 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The first-round WHL playoff series is all tied up between the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Calgary Hitmen.

Because of the 2-2 tie, the series will move on to a game five on Saturday, March 30 in Lethbridge. But this game will not be played at the Hurricanes’ usual home of the Enmax Centre.

Due to the world men’s curling championship being held at the Enmax, the ‘Canes and Hitmen will duke it out at the Nicholas Sheran Arena, a smaller facility than the Enmax Centre.

The City of Lethbridge has released important details for fans set to attend the Nicholas Sheran Arena, which is all ready to go for Saturday’s game five.

  • Parking is limited, so fans are asked to carpool if possible or use the free parking from the University of Lethbridge parking lot in zones E, F and G. Shuttle service will run from above zone G every 10 minutes until 7:20 p.m. and after the game until after all fans have been returned to their vehicles.
  • Please be respectful of commercial businesses in the area around the arena and refrain from parking in their lots.
  • A ticket centre will not be open at the arena, so fans are asked to not forget their tickets.
  • Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for the 7:00 p.m. game start. You may want to arrive 30 minutes early, as it may take some time to get through the doors and there may be wait times outside.

Since Nicholas Sheran Arena cannot accommodate as many fans as the Enmax Centre, a free Playoffs Fan Zone has been set up at Bully’s in Lethbridge for live coverage of the game.

Features include:

  • 18’ x 10’ LED screen
  • Pre-game show
  • Music during breaks
  • MC and DJ in-house
  • Concession and bar service
  • Kids programming
  • Prizes for fans in attendance
  • A 50/50 draw by the United Way

If game seven is necessary in the series, it will also be held at Nicholas Sheran Arena, with the same details listed above.
