Young offender charged with drug trafficking as part of ALERT investigation
LETHBRIDGE – A young offender is facing a number of charges, as part of an ALERT investigation into methamphetamine trafficking in Lethbridge.
ALERT investigators took the 17-year-old male – who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act – into custody on Sept. 6, with help from the Lethbridge Police Service.
Police say they recovered approximately $3,900 worth of drugs, including methamphetamine, cocaine, LSD, ecstasy, cannabis resin and marijuana. They also seized a baton, brass knuckles, cash, two cellphones and other drug paraphernalia.
“Drug trafficking continues to be a problem for communities across Alberta, and Lethbridge is no exception,” said Staff Sgt. Jason Walper of ALERT Lethbridge in a media release. “Every seizure we make plays a part in making our streets safer.”
