Man accused of abusing toddler hires lawyer
LETHBRIDGE – A 32-year-old Lethbridge man facing a charge of assault causing bodily harm in an alleged case of child abuse, has retained a lawyer.
The man – who cannot be named to protect the identity of the child – has retained Claudia Connolly, who had an agent appear in court to adjourn the case to Oct. 27. It was noted that the accused will remain in custody by consent.
The adjournment means he will return to court on the same day as the toddler’s mother, a 26-year-old Lethbridge woman, who faces a charge of assault.
The two were charged last month, after the Lethbridge Police Service received an anonymous tip on Sept. 21, which indicated a two-year-old child may be in danger.
