Ghostbusters starts filming in Fort Macleod Thursday

FORT MACLEOD, AB – The day has finally come when the cast and crew of the new Ghostbusters 2020 movie arrive in Southern Alberta.

They will be working on shooting a single action scene.

Their first day in the community is Thursday, August 8th as they will be filming along 2nd Ave between Highway 3 and 22nd Street.

On Friday, production will take place on 24th Street from 3rd Ave and 2nd Ave, as well as 3rd Ave from 24th Street to 23rd Street.

The final days of filming are August 13th, 16th, 17th, and 18th, with filming occurring on 24th Street from Highway 3 to 24th Street.

The cast includes actors such as Paul Rudd, Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver, Dan Aykroyd, and Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard. It’s being directed by Jason Reitman, the son of the original movies’ director Ivan Reitman.

As many as 100-200 people that are involved with the movie are expected to be in Fort Macleod.

The public is asked to be aware of a series of road closures during filming.
