Hurricanes Regain Top Spot in WHL with 5-3 Win over Tri-City

LETHBRIDGE: The Hurricanes re-captured first place in the WHL and racked up their 13th straight home win with a 5-3 decision ocver the Tri-City Americans on Friday night, in front of 4,392 fans.     

The two teams each tallied 28 shots-on-goal in the penalty filled game. However, Canes Captain Tyler Wong was the power house, netting three of the team’s five goals to earn first Star.

Carter Folk netted the fourth goal while Ryley Lindgren got an empty netter with 49 seconds remaining in regulation.

Tri-City’s Vladislav Lukin captured the game’s Second Star while the Canes’ Brayden Burke was the Third Star for assisting on Tyler Wong’s first two goals.  

The Hurricanes are back in first place in the WHL standings with 78 points, while Kelowna and Victoria are close behind with 77 points each. Lethbridge and Kelowna each have a game in hand.

The Canes play the Oil Kings in Edmonton Saturday afternoon and the Hitmen in Calgary on Sunday.
