Bodies of Father and Son Found Near Claresholm

May 13, 2016 | 5:24 PM

CLARESHOLM – Claresholm RCMP are investigating after a father and son were found deceased on a rural property near the community.

Around 10:30 Thursday (May 12) evening, police responded to a report that an 85-year old rancher hadn’t been seen since Wednesday.

After learning that he often used an ATV to check on his livestock, a search was launched that included the man’s 60-year old son.

At some point the son, who was on foot, set off on his own to look for his father. Early Friday morning the search team found the son’s body. It is believed he died from a medical event, and the Office of the Medical Examiner has been tasked with determining the exact cause.

After daybreak the team then found the father’s body on another part of the property. It is again believed that he died from natural causes, and the Medical Examiner will be looking into it.

The RCMP has noted that they will not be releasing the names of either man.
