Additional Charges Laid for Alleged Fort McMurray Fraud in Claresholm

CLARESHOLM:  After launching an investigation, Claresholm RCMP have laid additional charges in an alleged fraud case from May 12th.

The charges relate to a Victoria couple fraudulently posing as Fort McMurray evacuees to gain community assistance.

On May 15th, Darryl Rondeau was charged with fraud under $5,000. Then, on May 24th, 39-year-old Jaime Lynn Cox was charged with five counts of fraud under $5,000.

Cox has been released from police custody on conditions and will appear in Fort MacLeod Provincial Court on June 1st.

Rondeau pleaded guilty to his charge on Wednesday (May 25th) in Fort MacLeod Provincial Court.

As this matter will again be before the courts, no further information will be provided by the RCMP in relation to the investigation.
