Private Contractors Joining City crews, Increasing injections for European Elm Scale Treatment

LETHBRIDGE – Private contractors are partnering with City crews to increase injections for the treatment of European Elm Scale infecting elm trees on public property.
Elm trees that are injected will be marked with a green dot on the side of the tree facing the road. Residents in nearby homes will receive a door hanger indicating that a tree in their area has been injected.
City Parks crews have already been performing TreeAzin injections for the past two weeks, and the addition of private contractors will help the City reach its goal of injecting 3,600 trees over the coming weeks. TreeAzin is a botanical injectable insecticide that provides pest control for up to two years.
Residents can report an elm tree on their boulevard that needs care to trees@lethbridge.ca or by calling 403-320-3850. When reporting a tree, please include your name, address (location of the tree) and contact information – not doing so may delay the assessment of the tree.
