New Trades and Technology Building at Lethbridge College on Time and Budget

Aug 24, 2016 | 1:12 PM

LETHBRIDGE – As Lethbridge College reaches the midpoint of construction on their new trades and technology building, they’re reporting that the project is on time and on budget.

A warmer and dryer winter than normal helped in the effort, as construction crews were able to pour concrete in January and February.

Lethbridge College Project Manager, Francis Rankin, noted that they also had another factor working in their favour.

“Indirectly what’s helped us is the economy,” stated Rankin. “We’ve got workers here that are actually here, that are typically maybe elsewhere throughout the province… they’re here and they’re here to work.”

The focus right now is on completing the roof of the new building and having it closed up by November 1, so crews can spend the winter months working inside.

The facility is scheduled to open in September of 2017, housing Engineering Design and Drafting, Interior Design Technology, Wind Turbine Technician, Electrician Apprenticeship Training and Welder Apprenticeship Training programs.
