Hurricanes acquire forward in another last-minute deal

LETHBRIDGE – The Hurricanes have made another last minute acquisition ahead of the trade deadline.

Hours after general manager Peter Anholt met with reporters to discuss a pair of trades Monday, Jan. 9, the team announced it has picked up forward Alec Baer from the Vancouver Giants in exchange for a third-round draft pick.

Baer, 19, from St. Louis Park, Minn., has three goals and 15 assists in 39 games this season with the Giants, with a minus-1 rating and 12 penalty minutes. He has 105 career points and 87 penalty minutes in 240 WHL games.

Baer was expected to join the Hurricanes for their next game, Wednesday, Jan. 11 againt the Oil Kings in Edmonton.
