Lethbridge Hurricanes slice though Saskatoon Blades

LETHBRIDGE – It was another solid night on the ice for the Lethbridge Hurricanes, who fought their way to a second win on the road in the land of living skies.

The Canes, coming off a 5-4 win over the Prince Albert Raiders, had a slow start, with the Blades out-shooting the team 12-8 after a scoreless first period.

Things picked up in the second, as Right Winger Zak Zborosky put the puck in the net at 16:21, followed closely by Jordy Bellerive at 17:49, even though shots on net were tied up at 18.

Heading into the final frame, Bellerive delivered another goal  at 12:14 of the third, to make it 3-1 for the final score.

Backup goalie Ryan Gilchrist was named the first star of the game with his 4th win of the season.

It was the Blades 2nd loss in as many games.

The Hurricanes outshot the Blades 11-10 in the third period and 30-28 in the hockey game. The ‘Canes went 0/4 on the power play but were 7/7 on the penalty kill. Their record now stands at 28-15-4-3 on the season.

The team is back on home ice for Tuesday, when they take on the Brandon Wheat Kings at 7pm.
