LETHBRIDGE – If you are one of the many who are passionate about the future of the two Castle Provincial Parks and how they will be used or accessed in the future, the Provincial Government has officially set the first couple of dates for its public consultation and information sessions.

The first meeting will be held March 10th, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Pincher Creek Community Centre, while the second, will be held March 11th, in the Municipal District of Ranchlands at the Chain Lakes Provincial Parks MD Office from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.

The discussions will centre around Off Highway Vehicle use, trail planning and linear disturbances. Staff from the Environment and Parks ministries will be at both of the meetings.

An updated Castle Parks Draft Management Plan will be posted March 10th, and the public can submit feedback until April 19th.

Last week, Environment Minister Shannon Phillips announced some changes to the Castle Parks Draft Management Plan, after thousands of submissions, several high profile demonstrations by OHV users and even letter writing campaigns.

Phillips anticipates the public consultations to continue throughout the summer at various locations in southern Alberta.
