Harold Pereverseff looking for a spot on city council
LETHBRIDGE – The list of candidates vying for a spot on Lethbridge City Council has grown again.
Harold Pereverseff joined the race Friday morning (Aug. 18), saying that after being retired for six years – following a 37-year career with the Canada Border Services Agency and Revenue Canada – it’s time for him to get involved in local politics.
He immediately took aim at property taxes in Lethbridge, saying they’re some of the highest in the province, before calling out the current council for their spending practices.
“There’s this tax and spend, spend and tax issue,” stated Pereverseff. “City council basically are going full-hog on things that they see, the shiny penny everywhere. We’re running, with the CIP, the Capital Improvement Program, I believe that’s all backwards. They shouldn’t be approving things that’s dumped on the coming in council. It’s difficult and with over a hundred entries into the project this year, they just don’t have the money, but they keep finding ways to put more taxes on the people.”
