Unplanned closure will send swimmers elsewhere Thursday

LETHBRIDGE – The city is blaming a contamination incident for an unplanned closure of the Henderson Lake Pool.

The pool will be shut down for all of Thursday, Aug. 24 after the water was contaminated by fecal matter Wednesday evening.

Robin Harper with the city of Lethbridge said the pool must now be chlorinated for a 24 hour period, and because it happened so late in the day, operating hours for Thursday would be basically wiped out.

It’s expected the pool will be open normal hours Friday, Aug. 25. In the meantime, it’s suggested people use Westminster Pool or a city spray park.
