Latest update from the City of Lethbridge on snow clearing

Nov 4, 2017 | 9:37 AM

LETHBRIDGE – City of Lethbridge snow clearing crews are fully mobilized around the clock, and they continue to focus their efforts on plowing and sanding the busiest arterial roads throughout the city to ensure they remain clear while the current snow event continues.

Those roads, also known as Priority 1 routes include: Whoop-Up Drive, University Drive, Métis Trail, Bridge Drive, Mayor Magrath Drive, Scenic Drive, 26 Avenue North, 28 Street North, 1 Avenue South west of Scenic Dr., 5 Avenue North (from Hwy 3 to Stafford Dr.).

The snow is forecast to subside over the weekend, and once that happens crews will begin to shift plowing and sanding efforts to Priority 2 routes.

Those include major collector roads and bus routes such as:

North Lethbridge: 5 Avenue N., 9 Avenue N., 13 Street N., 23 Street N., Stafford Drive N.
South Lethbridge: 6 Avenue S., 10 Avenue S., 16 Avenue S., 13 Street S., Stafford Drive S.
West Lethbridge: Jerry Potts Blvd W., McMaster Blvd W., Red Crow Blvd W.

For public safety, the Whoop-Up Drive speed limit remains reduced to 60 km/h until further notice due to winter conditions. Conditions are being monitored around the clock, and the city will provide updates as they deem necessary.

The city is asking drivers to adjust their driving for winter road conditions, use caution when approaching and crossing bridge decks and intersections, and to please not pass snow plows.
