Classes cancelled again as snow continues to wreak havoc on roads

UPDATE 8:40 a.m.: The travel advisory for Highway 3 between Pincher Creek and Fort Macleod has been lifted.

UPDATE 7:10 a.m.: Kainai Board of Education schools are CLOSED Thursday. Red Crow College in Standoff is also CLOSED.

UPDATE 6:50 a.m.: Blood Reserve school buses are NOT running Thursday.

UPDATE 6:45 a.m.: Brocket school is CLOSED, and buses on the Piikani Nation are NOT running Thursday.

UPDATE 6:26 a.m.: Livingstone Range School Division says Pincher Creek and Lundbreck schools are CLOSED Thursday.

UPDATE 6:20 a.m.: All snowfall warnings have now ENDED.

UPDATE 5:40 a.m.: Holy Spirit Roman Catholic School Division has CLOSED St. Mary and St. Patrick Schools in Taber as well as St. Michael’s School in Pincher Creek. Classes are CANCELLED at St. Joseph School in Coaldale and St. Catherine School in Picture Butte, but those schools will remain open for any kids who are dropped off. Southland buses to Holy Spirit schools in Lethbridge are NOT RUNNING.

LETHBRIDGE – A wintry mix of snow and wind continued to cause travel havoc across southern Alberta Wednesday, Feb. 14 and into Thursday morning.

Late Wednesday, Horizon School Division announced it has CLOSED all of its schools for Thursday, Feb. 15, anticipating continued poor travel conditions.

Palliser Regional Schools also announced buses would not be running Thursday. While no regular classes were scheduled, schools themselves would be open for kids who were dropped off by parents.

Travel was not being recommended on Highway 3 between Fort Macleod and Pincher Creek, due to slippery conditions Wednesday night. That advisory remained in place Thursday morning. Travel was also not advised between Taber and Grassy Lake. Highways across the region were described as partly ice-covered Thursday morning.
