SIKSIKA NATION – The Lethbridge Lightning may have dropped the regular season series against the Siksika Buffaloes, but that was in the rear-view mirror when the playoff semi-finals opened this past weekend as the Lightning stole home ice by winning twice on the road.

Following a slow start on Friday, Feb. 23, the Lightning found their mojo in the third period scoring three times in the final frame on the way to a 6-3 victory in hostile territory to take a 1-0 series lead in the best of five Ranchland Hockey League semi-final.

Cole Matson led the way offensively for the Lightning with a pair of goals, while Noland McElroy, Jake Harrison, Taylor Bilodeau and Kevin Mayowski who had the game-winner all notched singles.

On Saturday night, the Lightning returned to the Deerfoot Sports Complex in Siksika where Cole Schafer back-stopped the Lightning to a 4-0 win.

Matthew Nadeau scored twice, including the game-winning goal.

The Lightning will look to close out the semi-finals when the series shift to Lethbridge for Game 3 on Friday March 2, 8:30pm at the ATB Centre.

Game 4, if necessary, will go Saturday, March 3 at the ATB Centre while a potential Game 5 would be on Sunday, March 4 back in Siksika.
