LETHBRIDGE, AB– At Galt Gardens in Lethbridge, volunteer Jeremy Gook with Operation Underground Railroad made it clear they want the city of Lethbridge to know what today (July 30) is about.

July 30th is World Day against Trafficking in Persons, speaking about children, women, men, sex trafficking, and slavery.

Gook says today is an important day, yet it may be overshadowed with what is happening all around the World.

“We need to rise up, we need to be loud, we need to get in people’s faces and say hey look, child trafficking is a problem.”

Gook made it clear that today people should be seeing and raising awareness for child sex trafficking.

“Every 30 seconds a child is trafficked either for sex, for slavery, or even organ harvesting.”

To raise awareness Gook and Operation Underground Railroad has set up a rally at Galt Gardens and is giving out pamphlets, food, and clothing.

Gook says a way to look at child trafficking worldwide is that it’s too important to keep quiet.

“Again if you think of a child getting trafficked every 30 seconds… just image if we thought of every 30 seconds a child was getting COVID or dying of COVID it would be all over the media, but why isn’t trafficking, why isnt human trafficking heard more?”

The rally at Galt Gardens is currently still going until 7 p.m.
