Hurricanes post 3rd straight loss with Hitmen 6-3 win
LETHBRIDGE – To begin a home-and-home, it was the Hurricanes who hit first Friday night as they hosted Calgary – just 27-seconds in. Jordy Bellerive had the home team on the scoreboard off an assist from Ryan Vandervlis and Tate Olson.
The speed of the first goal may have rankled the visitors. Just over three minutes later, Calen Addison took a hit to head and had to be helped off the ice. Hitman Andew Fyten took the penalty. Fortunately, Addison was back on the ice five minutes later.
The Hitmen turned on the heat at the 8-minute mark and scrambled in front the Canes net, with Matteo Gennaro flicking the puck in to tie the game 1-1.
After a string of faceoffs favouring the Hitmen, the Canes’ Tanner Nagel followed Cael Zimmerman up the ice where the pair dropped the gloves and went at it. The fight cost the duo five-minute majors.
