Provincial Businesses Want Premier to Halt Further Policy Changes
EDMONTON: A business alliance is asking Premier Rachel Notley to hold of on any further major policy changes.
The alliance — made up builders, retailers, energy-sector companies and others — has sent an open letter to the premier stating that when times are bad, there should be a focus on balancing the budget and economic success.
They want the government to issue a moratorium on any major policies that would affect businesses, including backing off on tax increases and raising the minimum wage.
As well, they want the province’s job-creation strategy and cost-mitigation programs speeded up and would also like to meet with Notley to discuss their concerns.
