City caps off Public Works Week with a splash

May 20, 2016 | 11:28 AM

LETHBRIDGE – City employees ended Public Works Week with a public demonstration fire hydrant flushing.

Mayor Chris Spearman assisted a Public Operations crew in flushing a hydrant on 11 Street South next to the old courthouse building.

Spearman said infrastructure jobs are often not thought about until something goes wrong.

“This is the type of job that people just don’t ever see visibly or think about very often,” he said. “People question the value they get for their taxes and there’s a whole collection of jobs and supports in the city that basically make our city a safe place to live in.”
