RCMP investigating theft of flat deck and skid steer

Jun 7, 2018 | 4:32 PM

FORT MACLEOD —  RCMP are investigating two separate thefts which took place on Tuesday evening (June 5) and Wednesday morning (June 6).

On Tuesday evening a lock was broken off the trailer hitch and a 20 foot black Oasis flat deck trailer was stolen from the parking lot at Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump, West of Fort Macleod.

The next morning, a yellow CAT skid-steer was stolen from a construction site near 12 Street and Hwy 2 in Fort Macleod.  Police say the equipment appears to have been driven from the site and onto Hwy 2 before being loaded onto a trailer about 500 metres South of 12 St.

It’s believed the two incidents are related, and that the stolen trailer was likely used to steal the skid steer.

Surveillance photos show a white, single cab, Ford pickup towing a similar trailer in the area prior to the skid steer being driven away from the construction site.
