LETHBRIDGE – No one was injured when a small plane crashed at the Lethbridge Regional Airport Monday afternoon, July 30.
In a media release from Lethbridge County, they reported that neither of the two occupants of an American registered Aviat Husky Aircraft were injured when the plane experienced a ground loop collision while landing at the airport at 1:22 p.m.
County officials explained that a ground loop occurs from a horizontal spin while landing. In this case, it was caused when a wing touched the ground as the plane landed.
The plane went onto its side in the crash and did suffer damage. It has since been loaded onto a flatbed truck and removed from the runway.
