LETHBRIDGE – The Helen Schuler Nature Centre will soon be hosting the Inspired by Nature — Youth Art Exhibition to celebrate the diverse creative talents of Alberta’s youth and their connection with nature.

The art exhibit will feature nature-inspired pieces in the community art gallery of the Helen Schuler Nature Centre, and it will be open to the public between Sept. 11 and Nov. 4.

The Nature Centre is encouraging Alberta residents 18 years of age or younger to head outside to explore and tap into nature’s muse.

Through art, photography, videography, music or writing, youth can express their connection with the natural environment and help to inspire a deeper appreciation for the outdoors.

Resource Development Coordinator Curtis Goodman say they’re excited to see what discoveries their young artists make.

“Spending time in nature has so many benefits, like inspiring curiosity and new ideas,” Goodman continued. “We’re hoping that through creative self-expression, youth will proudly let their discoveries shine in the community.”

A gallery closing reception will be held at the Helen Schuler Nature Centre to recognize the artistry in the Inspired by Nature — Youth Art Exhibition on Oct. 30. This event will include prizes for Best in Show as decided by a judging panel from the Rotary Club of Lethbridge East.

In a release, organizers say they’re expecting a lot of interest in this exhibition urge young artists to submit their formal expressions of interest to Anita.LeBaron@lethbridge.ca by midnight on Aug. 31, to ensure their spot in the gallery.
