LETHBRIDGE – Lethbridge Police arrested a man under the influence of drugs early Friday morning (Aug. 24) after he disrupted a pancake breakfast.

Police say just before 6:30 a.m. they responded to multiple calls after a man, who appeared to be under the influence of drugs, took off most of his clothes and began throwing chairs and yelling at volunteers and patrons at a pancake breakfast in a parking lot along the 300 block of 10 Street South.

Initially, the man was compliant with the first officer on the scene, but when a second officer arrived he became aggressive, grabbed a chair and attempted to hit him.

The officer subsequently deployed his taser, but the subject continued to resist arrest and was tasered a second and third time before officers were able to gain control of him and take him into custody.

He was transported to hospital and was admitted for observation until sober.

34-year-old Tyler James Robbins, of Lethbridge, is charged with assaulting a peace officer with a weapon and mischief.

He’s scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 26.
