LETHBRIDGE – Curling Canada still needs about 200 or so volunteers to help organize and run the 2019 World Men’s Curling Championships from March 30-April 7.

Spokesperson Al Cameron says it’s a good opportunity for those who want to help make the event a success.

“They get some access that the fans won’t necessarily get and it’s a great way to give back to the curling community.”

The title sponsor, Pioneer Hi-Bred, was also named Thursday (Nov. 8).

Pioneer Hi-Bred spokesperson Loralee Orr says the company’s connection with farms in areas like Lethbridge is very strong.

“They’re the bread and butter of what we do. And curling has such a really rooted connection in rural communities.”

Cameron says the event is taking shape well so far, with 13 countries that will participate.

“We’ll know two of those countries by the end of this week. The Pacific-Asia Championships are taking place right now, so the top two finishers there will qualify.”
