Local Speed Skaters wrap up season at Canada West Short Track Championships

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Four speed skaters from the Lethbridge Speed Skating Association wrapped up the 2018-2019 season this past weekend in Grande Prairie.

Riley Vanderburgh, Mikka Eaves, Braeden Kremenik and Jonnathan McIntosh competed at the Canada West Short Track Championships on March 23 and 24 as members of Team Alberta.

There were 114 skaters competing at the event this year. The Canada West Short Track Championships brings together the best skaters in the Training to Train stage of development for the provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia and the territories of Yukon and Northwest Territories.

In the T2T 12 Female, Mikka Eaves won a bronze medal in the 1500m. Eaves was a member of Team Alberta 1, which earned a gold medal in the 11/12 Female Relay.

Her efforts placed her 6th overall in the T2T 12 Female age class.

Jonnathan McIntosh and Braeden Kremenik finished 6th and 7th respectively, in the T2T Male category.

In the T2T 13 Male division, Riley Vanderburgh finished 14th overall.
