LETHBRIDGE —  Do you know someone who has made a significant difference in our community?

I’m excited to announce that nominations for the 2018 Community Builders Awards are now being accepted. This special recognition is open to individuals who serve the betterment of the Lethbridge region, including volunteers, community organizers, farmers, educators, artists, athletes, social workers, coaches, business owners, emergency responders, and anyone who goes above and beyond to improve the lives of others in our community.

One of the many reasons I am proud to represent the city and county of Lethbridge is the strong community spirit we share. Instead of expecting others to do the work for us, countless individuals step up, take ownership, and become an active part of making our community a healthy and vibrant place to live—a place we’re proud to call home. Our region wouldn’t be the same without the dedicated investment of these caring individuals.

Last year I launched the Community Builders Awards in order to recognize and celebrate those who embody this spirit, continuously giving of their time and talent to strengthen local communities throughout the Lethbridge region, including the City of Lethbridge, the County of Lethbridge, Coalhurst, Monarch, Nobleford, Barons, Picture Butte, and Coaldale.

In 2017, my office received more than 130 nominations from across the riding and I was honoured to formally recognize individuals of all ages, not-for-profit organizations and businesses that are dedicated to making the Lethbridge area great!

Last year’s award recipients were: Tanya Bezooyen, Blake Miller, Ryan Slingerland, Dr. Gary Bowie, Mathew Conte, Dorothy Garrett, Linda Heinen, Dory Rossiter, Colleen Van Raalte, Jennifer Tribble, The Pogo Bros, Philip and Traci Mack, Bridge Vault and Precast, Brian Winters, The Picture Butte and District Lions Club, Royal Canadian Legion No. 273, The Shaughnessy Community Association, and Streets Alive Mission.

This year, a total of thirteen awards will be granted to individuals throughout the Lethbridge riding: three youth awards (under 18 years of age) and ten adult awards (18+ years of age). All nominations will be reviewed by a panel of last year’s award recipients and winners will be selected based on merit. Recipients of the 2018 Community Builders Awards will be honoured at a special ceremony in the fall.

If you know of someone who deserves special recognition for their remarkable contributions to our community, please take a moment to nominate them today.

An electronic nomination form can be filled out on my website, www.RachaelHarder.ca, or a paper copy can be obtained from my Lethbridge office, located at 255 8th Street, S. Nominations close at 11:59pm on Friday, May 18th. For more information, please contact my office at (403) 320-0070.
