Interfaith Food Bank receives donation from Walmart

LETHBRIDGE – The Interfaith Food Bank is getting some help from Walmart to feed the city’s hungry.

The food bank is getting a $20,224 donation from the Walmart Foundation to upgrade its loading dock. Interfaith will be able to accept and distribute more food through the National Food Sharing System, according to a news release.

It’s part of a $2 million grant the Walmart Foundation earlier announced to Food Banks Canada. The foundation is now putting in another $2.6 million. The goal is to strengthen the food bank system, especially to help wtih the distrubtion of fresh food.
